Marvellous Me
The fire service team came to visit us today. They helped us find out more about people who help us....and we got wet!
Diwali!
This week we have been finding out about, taking part in and exploring the Hindu festival called Diwali.
We have compared churches and temples, built them, made playdough samosas and tasted real ones, made Diya lamps to welcome the goodness and guide us to a happy safe home. We have made patterns, listened to and danced to traditional Diwali music.
Rangoli Patterns - how fantastic!
Belonging to a family or club is important as it helps us to feel safe, happy and loved. We belong to our school family, our home family and our church family to name just a few!
We have been finding out about different people who can help us from parents to teachers to refuse collectors to the lollipop patrol.
We also had a visit from the nurse who helped us by giving us some medicine to keep us healthy. We all watched what happened and then dressed up ourselves in nurse, doctor and surgeon uniforms. We learnt some words for the equipment that they use. Then we opened our own Baby Clinic!
Willows were fabulous at sharing why we need to keep our teeth clean. They were great at brushing the giant teeth and had fun making their very own set of teeth complete with a toothbrush for that all important brushing. 😃
Healthy Teeth!
We have been talking about why it is important to keep ourselves clean this week. Willows did a great job of washing my dirty socks. 😳
Sock Washing!
We have been exploring what we needed as a baby and what we need now.
Also, what a baby can do and the toys they play with compared to what we can do and play with now.
Willows were superstars in their first PE session this week. Everyone was keen to have a go at all the obstacle challenges. 🤩
Our First PE 😃
We looked at some of the portraits painted by Spanish artist Pablo Picasso. We had such a good discussion about the paintings! What do you think of our versions?
We also looked at each other and ourselves. We are all different! We painted our own self portrait and tried really hard to make the colour to match the real us!
The book “The Colour Monster” helped us to explore how people can feel and different colours that could match that feeling.
Willows have been exploring their new classroom and playing with their new classmates. There are lots of different places and things to explore. The whole of Willows have had a great time finding out what they like to do...the mud kitchen, listening station and painting have been very popular!
One of our lovely Willows found an amazing bit of nature’s treasure on a walk with his family. We thought it could be a giant potato or an old ball but it was a HUGE Puffball Mushroom. We felt it, smelt it, held it and then cut it open to see what it was like inside. A little Willow said it sounded like “when you wash windows” as the knife squeaked when it cut into the mushroom!
