'Hands on Art' competition winners!
Fri 10 Jul 2020Good news to share!
Back in May, KS2 once again took part in the “Hands on Art’ competition that is organised by The Rotary Club of The Forest of Dean.
This year we were excited to have invited a local artist, Doug Eaton to our school. He brought along some of his incredibly vibrant paintings to share with the children and stayed with us while they explored using his techniques.
This clearly was an incredible inspiration to the children who went on to produce some beautiful works of art, in the theme of ‘Life in the Forest’.
Sixteen paintings were selected to go forward to the competition and I am utterly delighted to say that Ruardean was awarded the prize for the overall winning school in the Junior section for years 3 and 4. This is the second year running to have achieved this accolade, I am very proud that the children’s hard work and creativity has been recognised once again.
I am also absolutely thrilled that four of our children were mentioned as finalists by the judges. Congratulations to Jess Harper, Isobel Rawlings, Kaiden-Lei Taylor and Lleneah Halls.
Finally, it gives me enormous pleasure to announce that Harry Jhattu’s stunning painting was chosen as the winning entry in the Junior section, achieving first place against fourteen other primary schools.
Huge well done to everyone, the paintings are in a gallery section on the Rotary Club website for you all to see -

I am sure you will agree they are all deserving of the praise they have received.
We look forward to next year!
Best wishes from a very proud,
Mrs Arnett
