About me:
I have lived in the Forest of Dean with my partner since 2018 having moved from Wiltshire after 30 years.  In Wiltshire I served as a school governor in both primary and secondary schools for 18 years.

I work as Safety Engineer in Bristol, and after 45 years working in marine engineering I am looking forward to retirement in 2025.

I am a member of the Lydbrook Players, providing lighting and sound for productions.  I enjoy the outdoors and take part in field archery in open and national competition, which can take me across the country.  I also enjoy touring in my camper van, both in the UK and in France.

Emma Spence
Appointed by Staff
Term of Office: 13/11/2024 - 12/11/2026

About me:

I have been teaching for approaching 30 years. I have taught all age groups but primarily in Key Stage 1 and EYFS. I taught for many years in a Cardiff school before teaching Year 6 in Shropshire and then in Wales respectively. In the latter two schools I was part of the Senior Leadership Team, Lead for Wellbeing as well as Foundation Phase Lead. I have now been at Ruardean for the past 7 years. Over this time, I have been responsible for many areas of the curriculum and discrete curriculum.

In the field of education, I have a keen interest in the creative and kinesthetic approach to learning, forest school opportunities and behaviour support and management for all children including those with social and emotional needs. In Cardiff, we were supported by the pupil behaviour support team and worked alongside them in class. Whilst in Wales, I also attended a year’s intense training course on restorative practices as well as being part of the restorative cluster group which included primary and secondary schools aswell as the Police.
