Welcome to Beeches!
A huge welcome to our new Beeches class! I hope you all had a fantastic summer, spending quality time with each other and making fantastic memories.
Our topic this Autumn is ‘FIRE’. The children have already shared with me what they know so far about fire and have asked some fantastic enquiry questions that will lead our learning this term. One of the suggestions was to build our own small fire and toast marshmallows! What a great idea!
The topic will cover many areas of the National Curriculum. In Geography, we will use our map skills to locate London and find out about some of its famous landmarks through stories, pictures and videos. We will travel back in time to 1666 to study the historic event of The Great Fire of London. As well as this, we will look at the importance of Fire Safety and learn about the people who help us. We are hoping for a visit from the Fire Service after half term! You can view our learning intentions by accessing the Topic web below. The website will be regularly updated with information, photos and examples of your children's work.
As a school we will be continuing to focus on our listening skills and good learning behaviour. We will be learning techniques that help us to be mindful and focus on our learning.

How can you help your child at home?
*Read regularly with your child, discuss a range of books and practise high frequency words/common exception words
*Help them to learn their spellings. Practise writing them in different ways using colours/paint/chalks etc
*Practise the skills in their ‘Maths Passport’
*Carry out independent research on our topic to help encourage and enthuse your child.
If you have any questions, please come and see me! I look forward to teaching your children and working alongside you this year,
Rainbow maths is designed to improve childrens' mental recall of number facts. This term we are working on multiplication and division facts. You can download the document below and allow your child to practise and gain quicker recall. We give the children 4 minutes to complete one section.
Can you beat your score and time?
We do 'Rainbow Maths' in school everyday. If your child gets 25 out of 25 for 5 sessions in a row, they move onto the next level!
